Treatment Plan

  1. Initial Evaluation: We performed a comprehensive evaluation, including a duplex ultrasound to assess venous circulation and identify any underlying issues contributing to the ulcer.
  2. Compression Therapy: To address venous insufficiency, we initiated compression therapy using specialized compression stockings, which helped improve blood flow and reduce swelling.
  3. Advanced Wound Dressings: We applied foam dressings with silver to manage exudate and reduce the risk of infection, creating an optimal healing environment.
  4. Lifestyle Modifications: We advised Mr. R. on lifestyle changes, including elevating his legs regularly and engaging in low-impact exercises to enhance circulation.
  5. Regular Follow-Up Visits: Our wound care team visited Mr. R. regularly to monitor the wound, adjust treatments, and provide ongoing support and education.

Outcome

Mr. R.’s leg ulcer showed marked improvement within four weeks, with decreased swelling and improved tissue health. By the 10th week, the ulcer had healed significantly, allowing Mr. R. to regain his mobility and return to his daily activities without pain.
